Shop Overview:
In 2013, Sarah moved to Blairgowrie and set up a small workshop at home. In 2015, she began taking part in Perthshire Open Studios and continued to share her handcrafted silver with locals and visitors.
In June 2018, Sarah found the perfect shop front location which would allow her to both permanently display her silver jewellery and have space to set up a working studio to design her new designs.
It was at this moment that “Sarah Cave Silversmith” was born on the High Street in Blairgowrie.
About Sarah’s Handcrafted Silver
At one time, Sarah was a part of Hamilton and Inches (Edinburgh) where she worked as a jobbing silversmith for 14 years.
During this period Sarah started making her own designs in her spare time, notably, this work included a condiment set for “The Millennium Collection” in 2000 and a claret jug for “The Silver of the Stars” collection in 2006 both commissioned by The Incorporation of Goldsmiths.
Sarah designs a range of silverware as well as jewellery. Most of her silverware is “hand raised”.
These designs are handcrafted in the studio using a traditional technique of producing form using basic hand tools.
Sarah works the flat sheet of silver over steel tools or “stakes” using a raising hammer to produce a form, each one being unique and she aims to make pieces that are attractive to look at but also feel good in the hand.
